Hi everybody. Been missing City Data and thought I would stop in and say Hello.

I am still adjusting to life in the slow paced mid west country, having lived in a big city my whole life, this is a hard adjustment.

I have been volunteering for the only local dog rescue in the county, we do not even have an animal shelter or any specific dog ordinances.

Since the county I live in is "country" many people let their dogs roam.

And, unfortunately, people use this area as a place to dump animals.

It makes me sad how many dogs get lost, hit by cars and just end up missing, never to be heard from again.

But, my old dog Thora is still with me and like always, I never let her out of my site.

I hope everybody here is doing well.

My daughter says the same thing. She lives in a rural area of Texas and people dump dogs off on her quiet lane regularly. She takes them in and finds homes for them or turns them over to rescue groups (not kill shelters).

It is indeed very sad, how so many people just find it okay to just dump an animal like trash.

That has got to be a big adjustment! You might have to get Thora a sweater for the winter and maybe a heated blanket too.

My current two were dumped in Texas, rescued and finally made it up to me in Colorado. As I sit here on the sofa with them snoring on either side of me I can't imagine why someone thought it was right to just leave them in a field at Christmas. Some people suck.
