Maybe because he is a dachshund and he is so close to the floor, my dog thinks that anyone ON the floor got down there to play with him! If I sit on the floor to stretch before a run or my kids sit on the floor to work on a school project, he climbs all over us. Last night my daughter was working on a poster for school and he insisted on laying right in the middle of it! Crunches and abd work are just an invitation to be jumped on - crazy!

My 85 pound golden mix thinks the same way your dog does. If you are on the floor you are fair game.

You're lucky....my dawgs [Eskimo and Sheltie] have informed me that THIS is their house and every thing in it belongs to them....They WILL allow me to sleep in the bed ...assuming I behave.

That is so sweet. Yes they sure are low to the ground. I love Dachshunds. It just wants a little love and attention and as long as you are at his/her level you are fair game!

I had to put a doggie gate up when I do floor exercises or else my dogs are all over me. But if I close the door, they scratch or whine....so my solution was the gate. They can see me but I can workout without being smothered with kisses.

Don't you know Dachshunds thinkk they own everything in the house. Ours is an attention hound. what happens with us is usally we end up watching tv on the floor and the dogs are on the sofa! In addition to the hot dog, we have a dalmatian and a lab mix...no room for the old folks..

Our Frenchies are the same way. If we're doing ab workouts on the exercise ball, they're there. Licking, pawwing, drooling. Never fails. I think they're just excited we're getting down to their view level rather than looking up all the time.

I actually am training my pup that way. He's a Pekingese and getting up/jumping up and down on furniture could cause him to hurt himself so,... I get down on his level for play.
