Hi our escape artists of a chihuahua mix can jump over and out of the cloth/plastic pen even though it's close to 3 feet high. She also can chew at the cloth zipper at the bottom and open it up then crawl out.

So we need something escape proof lol!

Any suggestions?

Precision makes a good folding wire crate. Available at dog shows. 3 C's might sell them on line. That is a fully enclosed box with a tray at the bottom.

Pro Select makes a good wire crate. its lighter weight and less expensive but still good and sturdy. Pet Edge sells them and probably other online pet catalogs sell them.

Jeffers pet catalog sells a good selection of folding wire crates. I've not bought their brand of crates, but Ive been a customer there for over 20 years and products and service is always good so I don't hesitate to recommend them.

Ive only had one dog that could open the latch on a folding wire crate and that problem was solved by using a spring clip on the door latch.

How many Hours a day is the dog in the crate?

Are you talking about the Crate being 3 Foot high or an Ex-Pen? IF its a reg wire o plastic Ex-Pen Put a top on it.

Need more information to better help you.

We have a cloth pen that was a hand me down from a family member. They never used it their dog has figured out how to unzip the bottom part. So we took it. Don't have a top part to it.

It worked for the last six months. However, she has jumped out once. Starting to figure out how to unzip the bottom and crawl out from the bottom.

Worked great it is portable. The pup is in there for 8 hours only pees. Has food and water. Then we play with her 2 hours after before putting her to bed. Probably only 2 to 3 times a week she is in the pen. Unless going out put her in there for a few hours.

Go buy a pack of Safety Pins.....https://www.amazon.com/safety-pins/s...Asafety%20pins
Most local stores have them. Or ...https://www.amazon.com/OsoCozy-Diape...2Bdiapers&th=1
You want the ones that IF the dog gets to them they Will NOT open easy. Use them Only on the Outside of the pen.

Zipper should have a hole in it zip shut then Pin it so he cant unzip. No hole No Problem zip shut then pin the zipper close across the back of the zipper.

Going Over the top. Take a Sheet... Bed sheet Don't have on go Buy one at Goodwill. With the Pen set up Measure the Top Across Left to Right & Back to front. Most Ex-pens are 4" by 4' if in a square. But they can be set up to fit the area too.... why the measurements. Then buy a sheet Flat or fitted wont matter. Put it on the top use Pins to hold it on!
