My 27 lb long-haired dachshund jumped from the floor to a chair to the table this morning to eat a bowl of slices strawberries that were sitting there ready for breakfast. I haven't noticed any problems today and gave him plenty of water and kept an extra close eye on him. Does anyone know anything dangerous about strawberries?

Strawberries are not toxic to a dog.

My dog loves some strawberrries too! He only wishes he could get an entire bowl of them! LOL Hope your doggie was ok! I have not heard of dogs having problems with strawberries before...but I would be concerned too about having that much. Hope all went well!

None the worse for the wear! No problems at all after consuming 10 - 15 strawberries. Thanks for everyone's concern!

Strawberries??? Why stop at one bowl? Put out 2 or 3 for your doggie next time. I had a lab who would invade my strawberry garden and as the strawberries became ready to eat ... good and red, plump, and juicy ... she would snatch them up. But she never ate the green ones, just the ripe ones. When the tomatos were ripe, she would invade them, then the peppers, etc etc. And when you have two other puppies watching her every move, they dig in too. One went as far as digging up the potatos for us. Funny puppies ... I ended up having to put a fence around my gardens.

Don't know of any dog getting sick from strawberries other than maybe they just ate too much which could happen with any food.
Don't let him get into the chocolate candy though.

Did you squirt some whipped cream on him and change his name to Shortcake? lol
