Can't figure it. There is hair all over the yard! This is our first year with her, she's still a puppy, and is very happy. Is this normal in the summer for this breed to lose their long hair in warm weather and then grow it back out? She hasnt lost it to the skin anywhere. We brush her pretty often but not as often as we should probably.

Shes just getting rid of her winter coat. I had too and had the same thing. You need to get out there and brush her to get rid of it all.

Get the Furminator, it is incredibly effective at getting rid of hair.

Used to take me about 4 hours to groom each dog to help rid em of their winter coat. The yard looked like it snowed.

LOL! That pretty much describes it. I've always said they look like their "stuffing" is coming out when they start shedding their undercoat. You can brush them every day, and they'll still have tufts of that stuff peeking out from under their main coat. My dog is a collie mix. You can see a picture of how much I get off of him every day, in the shedding golden thread.

I've been saving my dog's hair to have something made out of it too. A few days ago he had been digging and his hair was full of dirt and cut grass when I brushed him, so I left that hair out on the deck for the birds. There were huge gobs of it. I watched a bird come and take it. He must have thought he hit the motherlode, LOL! He tried to take it all in one trip but ended up dropping some when he flew off.

We , too, have a Great Pyr, and there is fur everywhere! However, she is a great dog, and worth every ounce of "trouble."
