That's just not true.. an adverse reaction to a vaccination can happen anytime up to 48 hours after the shot.

But ONLY in 1 in a million animals. Its more likely to happen within 15 to 20 min of getting to shot. In that case having been a breeder & working in a vets office I have only seen this happen to 2 animals...they were treated for aniflatic shock & sent home 1 hour later...& it never happen to them again!

I don't know where you're getting that but both I and Leorah have posted links to information about adverse reactions to vaccines in dogs. Veterinarians state that it can happen anytime up to 48 hours later... and I believe that it's 1 in 15,000 dogs... (if I remember what I read)

You can look at recent posts about vaccines and read links provided.... to well documented veterinary sources...

From YEARS of Breeding & Working in Vet offices!

So you are going to NOT Protect you dog because 1 dog in 15,000 has a bad reaction. Well I have watch dogs DIE from Distemper Parvo & Coronia .... 100s have Die from Not getting the shots. No dog has Die from Getting the shots.

Katie,

There are several threads on this subject currently. If anyone wants to check out the threads they can read for themselves. There are some good links with valuable information - as well.

I'm not going to argue with you.

Since my name has been mentioned here, perhaps it's appropriate for me to make a couple of points. First, I think we all are concerned about John1960's dog, and are trying to respond to his reasonable questions. However, we don't know exactly what caused his dog's problem, so arguing about it is not helpful to him.

There is a lot of good information out there about vaccinations, pro and con. Statistics and personal opinion being what they are, this information will be filtered differently by everyone who reads it. Nevertheless, there are some recognized authorities who have established themselves as leaders in the field. The website below is helpful in explaining vaccines and the adverse reactions they are thought to cause. Vaccine Introduction.

Finally, I enjoy C-D because it is a place where people try to help other people, and they generally do so with respect, civility and kindness. We all have our own opinions and beliefs, and I think it's wonderful when people share their opinions and experiences with others in a positive way.

I agree information highway is full of pros & cons on Everything. Since there are several things mention about what medical proplems the dog had there is no way to pin it down to blaming any 1 thing...at least not here. The only 1 person that can say for 100% sure what happened to the dog is the vet treating the dog. And even then there will always be dought.
