BilleeBob, the puppy was put to sleep right after the incident - it's discussed on the first page, I believe.

I been having a feeling that this baby was dead & the whole thing was staged to blame the pup. Any one else feel this way??

I don't think the baby was dead before, maybe Im gullible but I would think the authorities w/h had to check into all angles. The whole thing boggles my mind (and thank goodness there was no video or pics), esp. after reading the followup, while the baby was neglected, the mother (and grandmother) have to feel absolutely horrible, I'm sure they didnt intend for that to happen (who would?) but they (including the father and grandfather) s/h thought of the big picture and why the heck didnt they race to help the poor baby when they heard him screaming - ?!?! (it was so preventable, bottom line they never should have left the baby alone w/ the rambunctious puppy).

Gawd, you've got to love the media.

When officers arrived, they found that Zane, who had been left unattended in a baby swing for about two hours, had suffered multiple dog bites and had been eaten alive by the puppy.

What business does this MORON has raising a child? Why is this child was given back to the drug addict? I'm completely sickened by our system, our media and stupid teens and their parents.

Unhappy Tragic Situation but....

This is a very tragic situation for everyone concerned: family, baby, dogs, community.

However, this thread has evolved into something that is not related to Dogs, which is the topic of this forum. The discussion could be continued in this vein in the Politics and Other Controversies forum.

Or, perhaps we could get back on track by discussing issues surrounding children and dogs, and how--or if--you can safely have young children and dogs living together.

I don't buy it. How does a 6 week old puppy - who at that age would still be wobbly on it's legs - get up high enough to kill a baby that's in a swing?

Sorry - sounds fishy to me. I think the parents killed the kid and used it to torment the puppy until the puppy bit it a couple times to cover their tracks. I just don't see how it's possible for a 6 week old puppy to kill a 2 month old that's in a swing. Nope, nope, nope.

i don't see it either.
it is definitely a tragic situation, this could have been prevented.
the dog didn't necessarily have to be put down, couldn't they do evaluations of the puppy to find out its demeanor see if it's even possible that this puppy killed and if the evaluations prove or disprove of a future "killing"
