Default Question about female dogs!

We had our JRT spayed at six months but have noticed last night that she was looking sort of irritated in "that" area. Since she has been spayed, I know she is not coming into season. Is it possible that female dogs can get irritated in that area? It does not look too bad now but I am wondering if I should just give it a few days and see what happens or take her to the vet.

Thanks!

There are a number of possible reasons for the irritation you describe. Vaginitis can be caused by a bacterial or yeast infection. Sometimes a bladder infection will cause irritation, too. It could also be something environmental that caused her to be itchy in that spot. I'd watch it for a few days and if it continues, call the vet.

A negative side effect of spaying in some female dogs is urinary incontinence. Fortunatly hormone therpay can help with that and is not too expensive. It could be urine leaking and irritating her as another possibilility
