The Peticure works great on my terriers but changing the sanding band is a real pisser! Wish I knew an easier way to change it. Anyway, they fought it at first until they realized they were not being hurt and now it is a rather simple procedure.

Does yours have a small screw at the head of the sandpaper holder? Mine does and if you loosen it the circular paper pops off and you replace and tighten the screw. Sometimes things are made at different factories and then have different parts, good luck

The nail gets hot quickly, too.
Well, I received the Peticure Power, Professional model. It is a plug in version with twice the power and 1/2 the weight. It costs $10 more than the Elite but has extra filing bands making this the better value. The email said it would take 4-6 weeks. I got it in 2.5 weeks. I guess shipping from China is faster these days.

Set up was confusing since the documents were not illustrated. I had to refer to the website to set it up.

Using it was easy once I figured out how to put it together.

This sure beats cutting the nail and trying to file it down with a nail file. He yelped on the very first nail but that was my operator error (he didn't bleed or anything and I don't know why he yelped). I stabilized the finger like you suggested and it worked like a charm. The sound was first intimidating but he settled down after just reassuring him.

I use a dremel because it seems to be less traumatic for my girls. They will actually fall asleep while I'm doing their nails. They are soooo spoiled.

Again, I am still impressed at how my poops have adjusted to it. I use it about every 3 days for short times and they are very relaxed. These guys used to be in the "hangers" at the vets because they would rip the techs up!

I use regular dog nail clippers on my dogs. I don't trim them too close. I then use a coarse emery board nail file to further sand them down and reshape them.

Lucky you, I just have not been able to get these two new dogs to settle down with clippers, maybe when I reach for the glasses they get nervous
