Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'll be moving back to the USA in two years. I have 4 dogs that I will never part with. Actually I have 5 dogs because one ended up with my by default and I am currently trying to re-home him.

I haven't done my homework, but will go on the appropriate government sites tonight. Just wanting to know if any one has done the same thing. Everyone I know has moved 2 dogs max, most only one.

I believe the number of dogs is regulated by city/county ordinances, so you should figure out where you intend to live and then research (which may shape where you want to live Best of luck. Hope it's not too much of a culture shock coming back, but at least we'll have a new president by then!!

depends on the city!
depends really on if your dogs are obnoxious or not. No one really cares unless your dogs bother them. =)

my household has a one dog rule ...dog made the rule!

I don't think there is a limit per se. I believe you can have 5 where I live. The most we've had at one time is four. Beyond that requires getting a kennel license. I'd guess in rural areas there is no limit, other than the number you can care for.

It depends on the city/county. Also check to see if the area has breed specific ordinances.

I'm not sure, but I believe that there is a quarantine invovled (maybe it is the other way around US to UK due to rabies in this country). Anyway, find out about that for sure because if you have to have them quarantined for a long period of time it's gonna be expensive as heck for you. You better start saving up now. LOL

Nope no quarantine on animals! But I do think you need Health Cret from vet for each animal...& proof of UTD shots.

Most cities it is four. Here in Florida it is four I think. I am over by 2. I do not liscence my dogs. They all have ID tags and my dogs are well behaved and do not disturb the neighborhood in any way. I am on almost and acre fenced and my home is 2600 sf. so they all have plenty of room to romp and play! You should not have a problem with 5. But getting all of them to the USA might be the problem. Better check way ahead of time. Do you have any family here? Maybe you could send one at a time here to a friend or family member to care fore them until you get here. Then just travel with two of them when you move.

I think it all depends where you live. I currently have 8 dogs. I tease that 4 of them are so small, they make up for one big dog. They have the room inside and a huge yard outside. They are never left to bark and I doubt anyone around me really knows just how many I have. One is old and in failing health. The little ones get more than enough exercise running the backyard. I only walk 3 of them on a regular basis. It's work, but it can be done.

I say I have 6 dogs but I really have 7. I do not count my 7 lb chihuahua!
