Default But does your dog care if you dress up?

LOL ... If you think your dog loves to dress up you are only kidding yourself. Believe me, you're entertaining yourself not your dog.

I find it kind of rude how many people have made little snarky comments on this thread. If you don't like it fine, but to be rude is another.

Ted wouldn't wear clothes like he does if he didn't have allergies and hot spots. If the clothing doesn't effect the dog; meaning he can walk perfectly normal, run, sleep, and isn't uncomfortable (Makes them hot) I don't see the problem. Now if the clothing isn't made for a dog (the arms are not cut in the right shape for their build) then yes I agree.

Only if it's frigid weather (the Pit I used to have froze in the cold) or when entering a contest for the best dressed/annual shelter fundraiser. (My Standard took first place every year but one.) BUT, I have to say, it appeals to something so primal in me...maybe it was the children's book with the dressed up cat in the baby carriage that I read when I was little, I don't know...something imprinted. I find them absolutely adorable--but I understand all the reasons not to and I don't. And I don't advocate it. But so, so cute!!! I once knew a pug who I was not particularly enamored of (mostly because I didn't know her), and her mom had a big birthday bash/fundraiser for the local shelter at the dog park. The b-day girl had on the most adorable pink party dress (for a real baby) and seeing her in that completely won over my heart! Thereafter I loved that dog!

My dog loves his clothes. He gets very excited when I pull them out. Clothes = sweaters, one of which is custom made for his long, hot-dog shaped body. He starts shivering when it gets below 70 degrees. (He's a real Texas dog.)

Default Snarky or not ...

Sorry to incur the wrath of some of my fellow dog lovers but I still say that dressing your dog in clothes is for your own imagination and amusement. To think otherwise is a delusion. Having said that, I don't see any harm in the practice itself as long as the dog is not uncomfortable. Just don't kid yourself that the dog is as amused as you are.

Default call me delusional but...

If you could only have seen the contented LOOK in his eyes and his whole demeanor... He was a gorgeous, solid white dog and he had a red hoodie... with a silver chain collar.
When he had it on, he looked as though he KNEW he looked like a HOT Dog!

When we'd stop at stop lights, people would even roll down their window and compliment him, too... Honest. It happened more than once.

(and he was a big dog)

I agree. It is one thing to want what's best for your dog, but another to let your own personal appeasement take over, making you force the dog into things he or she does not desire.
