A dog sheltered a newborn baby abandoned by its 14-year-old mother in a field in rural Argentina until the boy was rescued, a doctor said Friday.

A resident of a rural area outside La Plata called police late Wednesday night to say that he had heard the baby crying in a field behind his house.

What a beautiful story, really touching . When are people going to understand how truly loving and caring these animals are. I wonder what happened to the dog though?

They are repeating this story on Headline News today about this dog. It looks like it is a stray or if it is not the dog is living in filthy horrible conditions! Yikes... I hope someone steps in for that poor dog and her pups! She is sooo cute! UGH! Horrible! Argentina is not an animal loving country!

Yeah...it's a happy story for the baby but what about the dog? And could you imagine it laying there with its puppies in 37 degree weather? Poor thing , I hope somebody was compassionate enough to pick it up.

Of course the dog does good and is left behind! This is a sad ending for that poor dog!
I hope an Animal Activist or Rescue steps in and gets her and her pups some help or a good home! Looks like the video shows her in a delapidated dog house somewhere. She was so cold there.
Just saw it on news again..looks like the dog is in an abandoned building.

Blondie, you're right and I don't mean to diss any countries but I have to say...Latin America in general is not very animal friendly. I've lived in Mexico and while living there I've witnessed first hand the saddest animal cruelty incidents. I'm a huge animal lover and can't stand animal cruelty in any form. You see stray dogs being beat, ridiculed, kicked at, hit, being run over, WITHOUT any sense of remorse, in fact it's sickening how some people seem to enjoy it. I once saw a group of guys in a big truck see a stray dog and speed up as if to run over it on purpose, as they left one of them stuck his head out of the window and look back and laugh at the crying dog! I was disgusted, sad, angry. The poor, whimpering dog ran in a dazed state and collapsed a few feet in front of me. I'm still haunted with that image even though it was so long ago. The sad thing is that it's so common . Nobody else seemed to be disturbed, I was the only one practically crying. I'm glad I haven't witnessed something like that here, if I ever saw anybody abuse or neglect an animal I will not contain myself...those people would get a piece of me.
