First of all, I have NEVER sprayed Febreze on any dog's face and just spritzed their bodies. Then I have wiped them off with a towel.

What's in Febreze is water, alcohol and fragrances. And why would you be fine with vinegar (which is a mild acid) and not with alcohol? People have actually burned their skin with applications of apple cider vinegar, but alcohol wipes are safe and used for disinfecting skin. Alcohol is also the main ingredient in hand sanitizer.

And yes, what a dog eats can affect their body odour. For instance, dog food with corn meal in it will make my dogs' feet smell like Fritos corn chips.

Febreze was not intended to be used on anything but fabric. I think it's a bad idea to spray it directly on a dog. The I also don't think it's a good idea to apply vinegar directly on a dog. I think it would dry the skin out terribly and lead to other problems.

Here's what's in febreze. Our Ingredients | Febreze (Water, Cyclodextrin, Alcohol, Dimethicone, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Maleic Acid Benzisothiazolinone, Didecyl Dimethyl Ammonium Chloride, Diethylene Glycol, Polyamine Polymer). I can't imagine some of those would be good on a dog's skin.

The Fritos smell is due to a naturally-occurring bacteria on the dog's feet. It's got nothing to do with corn in the diet.

I have 3 healthy big dogs. One stinks and the others smell fine. That's just the way it is. They all go to the vet and eat the same food. No allergies or skin problems either and they are all spayed/neutered.

The stinky one just gets more regular baths than the other 2!

Pet stores sell "doggy" cologne but any of the ones I've smelled are gross. Maybe better than a stinky dog smell, but gross just the same. lol

I agree.

Miu, please don't spray your dog with Febreze.

Pet stores sell deodorizing sprays that are intended for use on dogs. Burt's Bees makes a good, all natural one.
