We just bought a house with a pool that is almost enclosed except for needing a gate in one spot. Here's the problem...we want to be able to let our dog out from the kitchen door out to the top deck, have her be able to walk down the stairs to the lower deck which leads to the backyard, to do her business without having to walk down the stairs every time. Is there such a thing as a gate to secure the pool area for insurance purposes, but has a doggie door in it???? Every google search I do just leads me to plain old doggie gates or doggie doors.

Look for baby gates - the heavy duty plastic ones because they are durable and weather resistant. Latch and screw and secure it where you want it because typically they are just 'tension' placement and retrofit a dog door in it.

Why not have a gate custom made? I don't know if you are talking wood or wrought iron someother type but you could check around and see if some one will custom make it for you. Alot of peole that may have turned you down in the past saying the job would be too small may be hurting and willing to take on small jobs.

If I am reading this correctly I would say no because having a doggie door leading to an area with a pool would make the area accessible to small children...right?

For someone who may be reading this thread later, we make exterior cedar gates that have pet openings, as opposed to pet doors. Check your local code requirements if a pool is present, as communities have height limits that need to be met. We do not recommend having a dog door or pet opening if you have infants around, as it is a safety risk.

Custom Deck Gates with Pet Door Opening

You can see the actual opening (you spec the size) on the Gallery page. You can get them pre-built or as a kit, which an save you some money on shipping costs.
