The Best Friends Animal Society (bestfriends.org) says on its website that it's flooding with adoption applications after the Dogtown series about B.F. on National Geographic TV!
Of course, many applications aren't appropriate, like people wanting a perfect dog, etc. But I'm thrilled that the response is so good.
This month's B.F. magazine (also on the website) talks about how petfinder.com has really affected adoption.
I know I never would have bumped into my old boy Artie if I hadn't meandered around petfinder, wondering if there are any cattle dogs in New England. He as listed as a "cattle dog mix" in Rhode Island. (And I'm the queen of England). He's a large white mutt with some brindle spots. Thank you, West Warwick Animal Shelter!

I just saw this show for the first time the other day. It was one where they couldn't save this poor Chow Chow with neurological problems. Anyway, any show that prompts people to rescue dogs is great. May my boxer live for many, many more years, but my next dog will be a rescue. I don't need pure bred dogs; I just need a dog in my life. If only they could all be rescued.
