My dog has been taking Cefpodoxime slimplicef 100mg tablets once a day for about 2 weeks for skin infection caused by food allergies/itching on her trunk...
I think I might have given her a double dose just now...

She has beard and sometimes will spit pill out and get it caught to her beard
I gave her tonite's pill and had her spit it out once...found it in her beard and gave it to her second time...
was feeling her beard and found a pill...thought it was one she had spit out before and gave it to her for 3rd time before I realized it was probably too dry to be tonite's pill...and could have been one from prior night...
So there is good chance she has gotten double dose...

Is this anything really dangerous/life threatening?
She gets probiotics and has had no problem w/loose stools
And her rash/infection has cleared up very well so it is under control...

I found post online about double dose and vet's response was that gastric distress --loose stools-- was most likely response

Happened almost 3 hours ago
Dog showed no problems
Sleeping on bed next to me

And my vet doesn't answer calls after hours
Just refers you to one of the animal emergency hospitals in the area
If I call there the response will likely be to bring the dog in for observation overnight and a bill of $200...

Have you tried a thunder shirt? One of our rescue dogs used to get so bad she would bloody her paws scratching in the tub. I had her foster mom try a thunder shirt and it made a huge difference in quality of life (we get almost daily storms in the summer). Thunder shirt has a money back guarantee. If you do try it, give it at least a week to work. My foster mom did not think it was working at first but a little after a week she saw a great improvement.

Did you try it for at least a week, preferably longer? It doesn't work for everyone but the dogs it works for, the owners have been amazed. The dog in our rescue was able to eventually go off her anxiety meds and even the thunder coat.
