Haven't seen any other green-eyed labs/retrievers. No, he's not wearing contacts. Are green eyes that uncommon or are there many others out there? Just curious.
the eye color thing reminds me of a pit that i know...she has one blue eye and one brown eye. but the blue eye is only blue on the top half, the bottom half is brown.
maybe these dogs have mutations? then again i am no geneticist, so i don't pretend to understand how eye color works in these cases!
how gorgeous! i've never seen a dog with green eyes before. gold, brown, black, blue but never green. i'm curious as to what other breeds can have green eyes.
It is most likely a gene mutation as it is not normal for labs to have green eyes. Heterochromia is the condition in which some dogs (you may have noticed this in Huskies) have different colored eyes. You have a beautiful dog, and this condition is benign but was probably passed down in it's lineage.

Chocolate labs often have the exact color, but this dog expresses some non-lab phenotype characteristics so I doubt that this is a pure lab. Any assessment about what is common or uncommon is more or less meaningless.
