I have a recommendation but don't have enough posts to post it (I'll work on that). I have an 85lbs English Coonhound with hip issues (already one surgery) and he absolutely loves his bed. PM me for the link to it.

I bought a toddler bed at a garage sale and 2 crib mattresses one for the bed and one to pull out from under the bed. It looks like a love seat in the living room and I got the sheets off ebay and a used baby clothing store the same color as the accent pillows.

The nice thing about it is you can wash the sheets and I usually bleach wipe the mattresses themselves which cuts down on that dog smell that creeps into fabric.

Try looking on Craigslist for toddler beds or even just a regular crib mattress. 2nd hand baby clothing stores also have mattresses.

What a great idea! And I'm sure the "furkid" loves it!

Bed Bath and Beyond has small-sized beds (think 10-15lbs) for $10... I always get coupons from them in the mail for 20% off so it was another $2 off... Better than what I paid for at Petsmart which was like $25+ for the same size/quality.

I was also at a local Walgreens this week and they had the same brand bed for $10 as well...

My dog has never shown the slightest interest in a dog bed, but this one keeps tempting me:

His current bed has some kind of stuffing and it seems like he sinks into it, which can't be comfortable. Many times, he opts to sleep on the floor instead. I also want it to have a cover that's machine washable, since I wash his bedding every time I wash mine. Thanks for any recs!
Um, Doakes hasn't been able to use a bed because he thinks they are giant stuffed toys to tear the stuffing from.

Instead we just use towels, and lots of them. He usually piles them up to just the right comfort level and they're easy to wash. I know it's low budget, but after he tore about 6 beds to shreds, the towels have been perfect. At least my cat is enjoying HIS bed...he sleeps in it every day.

Sam "ate" his bed until he was 3 years old, then he decided maybe a bed would be okay to sleep on, I bought him a couple of beds. The best was a faux sheepskin bed from Costco, it was very nice...He even had one at Grandma's house.

Someone gave us a bed their dogs wouldn't use when we adopted...but our dog isn't interested in it, either. It's the large pillow variety.
