Frisco is a gorgeous lab. At six months old she is just now starting her "destructive" phase. She has already lost most of her baby teeth, and now feels compelled to chew just about everything in sight.
A trick I learned a long time ago, when puppies start chewing on things not appropriate for them, is to stick a baby carrot in their mouth. It is crunchy, good for them, and spares your living room furniture a gruesome death by a thousand bites. Keep a bag of baby carrots in your refrigerator at all times, you will be needing them.
Hello, I must jump in here. I'm a new lab owner as of 15 days ago. We've got a 9 week old full yellow male named Simba. I've also got a husband, a 10 yr old daughter and 8 yr old son.
This is the first dog I've ever owned and we picked a puppy! Hmmmm, now I don't know what we were thinking. But seriously, it's just been over 2 weeks since he's been a part of our family and we are adjusting. Can't believe how much he has taken over every aspect of our lives. I love reading your posts and seeing Emerald's photos. Simba has the same duck toy, but most often prefers to chew on us. I am exhausted and going nonstop keeping an eye on him and trying to figure out a schedule, I guess much like when my babies were born.
I'm thinking of puppy training at Petsmart in three weeks, any feedback?
the petsmart puppy classes are a good starting point .... involve your children as well.... husband too.......
