What is raw? My Lyla has a problem with dry food I think. She throws up that yellow bile every so often. She has done it for two days now again, refusing her dry Nutro. I am feeding her boiled chicken, brown rice, steamed green beans and carrots for the past two days now. What else can I feed her?

It's not uncommon for dogs or puppies to throw up bile. It happens when their stomachs are empty for too long. They usually throw a foamy yellow liquid (bile is yellow), usually in the morning, and then immediately go back to being their happy, normal, active selves. The best thing to do is to feed them something late at night to keep their tummies busy.

In regards to what is 'raw': Many people feel that that commercial dog food is not the healthiest choice for dogs, so they are feeding what is considered to be a more natural diet of raw meat and bones, organs, and vegetables. Some feed only meat and organs and, in place of vegetables, they feed tripe or the entire animal (like a whole rabbit) so the dog gets the vegetable matter that is in the prey's stomach.

You can feed Lily a variety of foods. You can give her a raw chicken thigh (I usually take off the skin) and see how she does with that. Sometimes I feed dogs bits of apple, banana, chunks of cooked sweet potato, canned pumpkin, raw egg yolk and cooked egg white.

Just don't ever mix raw with kibble! The kibble takes a lot longer to digest, and will hold up the raw if it's fed at the same time. The raw needs to process right away.

Thanx Woof! I am going to do a switchover to Taste of the Wild also. After reading all the fillers in Nutro I am taking them off it. It is only rated 1 or 2 stars anyway.
