There are actually a lot of breeds that have red noses. Border Collies, Aussies, Vizlas, French Mastiff, Chihuahuas and Huskies just to name a few.

From the Clumber Spaniel breed standard:

"The nose is large, square and colored shades of brown, which include beige, rose, and cherry."

Any breed that doesn't carry a gene for the color black.

Pensive is a Bracco Itailiano and she is orange and white and her nose, eye rims, pads, and toenails are orange, as they should be.

Her eyes were green when she was younger, but they have changed to gold.

Our's did this too, vet called it "snow nose."

According to the AKC: Nose-The nose should be wide and the nostrils well developed. The nose should be black on black or yellow dogs, and brown on chocolates. Nose color fading to a lighter shade is not a fault. A thoroughly pink nose or one lacking in any pigment is a disqualification.

It's not a "flaw" per se, i.e., not random. It's genetics. In labrador retrievers, generally we think of golden, black, and chocolate. This is related to the genetics of their coat color gene(s). However, there is interaction between genes at different loci (= regions) that impacts nose color. Too lazy to look it up again, but a particular combination at the relevant loci gives rise to the pink nose. Here's an article: http://www.thelabradorsite.com/dudley-lab/

Both our White Shepherd and our White Shepherd-Yellow Lab mix developed pink noses around the age of 2. Our Sheltie Shepherd mix is 3 1/2 now, and she's got the blackest, shiniest nose imaginable. It looks like licorice. I love it.
