Comfortis
Not sure if I spelled it right. It's a pill you give the dog once every 3 months. We just started this year, but it's gone well so far. We used Frontline for a long time, but it doesn't really work anymore. I don't know if Frontline watered down their product, or the fleas became immune or something.
Anyway, anyone else use Comfortis? What have been your experiences?

Do a Search of this forum, and/or the Dogs section.
I have posted about it several times.
AFAIK, Comfortis is given once a month, not every 3 months.
But where we live, northern Florida, fleas can be a year-round issue.
Frontline quit working for us, too, so we had to make a change.
We've had a mixed experience with Comfortis, but the last several times, Elwood has *not* barfed, so that's a plus. However, for our 6 month old puppy, I still am using Advantage.

Comfortis is working well here in southern GA. Problem is that the flea still has to bite the dog to die. So if your dog has allergies to flea bites, it is probably not the best product to use.

Hi I was wondering if any of you have formed an opinion on it as of yet? I live in Florida and had used Frontline then the plus for years and it stopped being effective so I went to advantax and it is now not working so my vet whom I’ve gone to since 1991 now recommends Comfortis. Well after reading everything out there its so confusing. Do you like it now or think for 2 Chihuahua’s it is fine? I was thinking of using Revolution to combine the heartworm and flea to save money since I have 4 cats and 2 dogs. What do you think?

We've been using Comfortis for at least a year on one of our dogs. She hated to get Frontlined (Frontline Plus) every month. She acted like it was killing her. So our vet suggested Comfortis, which was fairly new at the time. It works so well that in August '09 we put the other 2 dogs on it. They had their annual checkup in november and the vet said there is absolutely no evidence of fleas on any of them. So it works really well and we're very happy with it. I would definitely recommend it. We give them a comfortis pill every month when we give them their heartworm.

I've used it for several months with my Westie with no problems. He has never thrown up, etc., which is one of the side effects. The vet wouldn't give it to my yorkie; she is too small.

I too had found that Frontline was not working well this past year so for only one month gave the dogs Comfortis which killed all the fleas I did a good vaccuming of the house and washing of their beds and the next month used Frontline again and continue to do so and have had no more flea issues. My dogs are out with me very day and Ticks can be a problem which the Frontline prevents.Don't know why it seemed to stop working but seems to be working again. Weird!
