Sadly, a month ago, the MSPCA closed several facilities throughout Massachusetts due to a loss in its endowments.

But now we have just heard the good news that privately owned Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society of Leverett, MA is going to purchase the formerly owned MSPCA building on Union Street in Springfield, MA for $1.2 million as part of its expansion.

The MSPCA was originally trying to sell the facility for $4.8 million, but they are letting Dakin have it at this much reduced price to help ensure that animals in this part of the state are well taken care of.

A big thank you to Dakin and all the kind people who have made such generous donations!
