I've heard a lot of good ideas, but based on my dog's personality, I think you may have hit the nail on the head. So are you familiar with any meds specifically?
Well, Ginger and I just got back from the vet. The vet thinks that although her licking might also have a behavior origin, it is likely primarily an allergy. She made this diagnosis based on the appearance of Ginger's skin, on parts of her body where she hadn't been licking. Anyway, she gave her an injection of a steroid and an antibiotic. She also did some blood work, mostly just because Ginger is almost 10 years old and she wanted to see if there was something else going on. So thanks, everybody, for your answers. I'll let you all know if the treatment works or not.
