I wonder what would happen if you fed the dog in the same spot they bring a few pieces of kibble. Just to see what happens.

Yup, I've done exactly that. Of course he doesn't take any of the pieces out and bring them anywhere -- they're already ALL at the "deposit location" when I give him his food in the living room -- but, just like in the kitchen, it's hit or miss. He eats when he feels like it, and that's fine. I just wondered what the heck the "few kibbles in the living room" game was about.

If only he could talk... in English.

Many animals pick out portions of their meal to save for later. Some bury it. Be glad it's your carpet and not your sofa!
