Mine mostly sleep or rest all day. I know this because occasionally I leave for work then come home because the train is messed up. They look at me as if to say "what the heck are you doing here?" Then go off to their respective places and snooze. They get up again when I'm due to come home. They don't shift into weekend mode when I'm there like that.

I had the butcher at MarketStreet cut a femur in half for my french mastiffs - that took care of the awake time.

Mojo has peak times and the rest of the time he's sleeping. My s.o. lets him out about 6am and puts him back in his crate a little before 7 when he leaves for work. When I get home (or get up depending on the day) around 8 or so I let him out again and he's playful for about another hour or so. Shortly after 9 am, he's snoozing under the couch. If I worked the night before, he goes back in the crate while we sleep till around 2 or 3. He'll go to the bathroom then but he's not really active till closer to 4:30 or 5. From then, he'll alternate between playing, lounging and napping till about 11 when he's ready for bed.

We were curious about this so we bought a remote camera and hooked it up the VCR. We actually wanted to know how much they barked during the day and who started it. For the most part, it was a boring tape. They slept a good deal. There was some playing and our GR would take worn clothes, play with them and sleep by them. The interesting thing was that most of the barking was started by our small dog and the big dogs would join in. I'm guessing yours will do about the same and maybe both cat and dog will sometimes play together.

I work from home and since it's been raining so much and the backyard is, therefore, a mud pit, Artie has been sitting on the couch in my office watching me work.

He has so much downtime, I should really teach him how to do the laundry.
