Des Moines, IA (AHN) - Three-year-old Riggs, a bulldog from Prairie City, Iowa won the "Beautiful Bulldog" contest Monday, beating 50 odd dogs in a contest including the likes of Sir Grizwald Snorzalot, Napoleon Underbite and Crazy Legs Da Moose.
What does it take to win a bulldog "beauty contest?" Riggs' owners say it was his personality that got him the top spot. The contest is held annually to draw attention to the Drake Relays, one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious track and field events.
Riggs was dressed in Drake's blue-and-white colors, and his owners say the costume fit well. The relays will attract nearly 8,000 athletes for the 98th running this year.
