Our neighbors have their kids walk their dogs and of course they don't pick it up. The people who live behind us got a puppy and would walk it where there is a blind spot where we could not see and have it poop in our yard. This is the same family who got rid of the dog 2 months later for whatever reason, so it shows what type of people they are.

If I know whose dog it was and the live around me, I have on several occasions picked it up and put it in their yard. There is nothing more disgusting than cutting the grass and stepping in or mowing dog poop.

Dog owners in my neighborhood are pretty considerate. I've never found a pile, even though our house is on a pretty popular walking route. On the other hand, I can't tell you how many Starbucks cups I pick up out of my yard on a weekly basis.

I agree, and sucking cat poop into your mulching leaf vac is a close second!!!

The people who make me the most upset are those who don't clean up after their pets on PUBLIC property though. Dogs have been banned in enough public places due to owners lack of consideration for others. I hate to see responsible owners and their pets further restricted due to a bunch of thoughtless knuckleheads.

Some people just don't understand the consequences of their actions.

It's too bad that more people cannot tolerate dog excrement, as it is a natural fertilizer. And everyone who is picking up dog poop with those little baggies is contributing to unneccessary landfill (there are biodegradeable bags but very few people use them.)
I just think that getting upset about dog poop--and then banning dogs from areas b/c of it, etc.--is a complete waste of time and energy. The situation could very easily be remedied by people just watching where there are stepping. But heaven forbid a human should be considerate of other creatures who are inhabiting the planet. It's all about us and our stupid little pet peeves, isn't it?
Get a life and find something truly important to be upset about.

Umm newsflash dog poop inst a fertilizer. It would be the case if it wasn't a concentrated mount of components in a certain area. If you were to go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy organic fertilizer and drop a handful in one spot it would kill the lawn. The same is true for dog poop. Then add on it's in a person yard where, in my case, my daughter runs around and could step in or touch becomes unsanitary. Do you think it's okay for children to touch dog poop?

Having read the above, I would assume your intention is to defend the rights internal parasites and promote their advancement through not only the pet but also human populations.

we clean up the poop in our yard with a nice pooper scooper gadget and we do so a few times a day. Doesn't everyone??

People in our neighborhood seem pretty good about carrying bags with them when they walk their dogs and pick it up. IF I ever catch someone allowing their dog to do it's business in my yard and not picking it up-I will take care of that with the quickness.

My pet peeve is the cats allowed to roam and crap wherever they please

It's possible that you're being sarcastic and it's hard to tell from reading, however I think you should probably do some reading before you start telling people they shouldn't get upset about dog poop.

Here are some resources for you:
Clean It Up! (Dog Poop) | Rascodog (http://www.rascodog.com/stories/clean-it-up/ - broken link)
Fecal coliforms - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John DeCock: Creating a Long, Lasting Legacy of....Dog Poop?

AND speaking from personal experience, dog waste WILL at some point make your dog sick.

I'm a fairly new dog owner (Storm will be 1 on the 31st). I brought her home in November of last year. A couple months into having Storm she got very sick. She had all her shots, was up-to-date on vet check ups and was on her monthly dose of worm prevention medicine. Storm is a black lab, so we're talking TONS of energy and chewing and pretty much eating anything you give her. One day she just stopped eating, drinking and playing. She wouldn't even wag her tail when you came over to her. We took her to the emergency vet and they did some tests... turned out she had a bad case of whipworm.

Well, I couldn't figure out how that was possible. The vet told me that whipworm is a particularly stubborn worm and once it gets into the soil and your dogs environment, its near impossible to get rid of. The only thing you can do is give your dog a worm preventative that specifically treats whipworm (the most common one's don't).

Anyway, after an overnight stay and the use of IV's to rehydrate and medicate her (which cost me a pretty penny) Storm was back to normal. I started wondering how it was possible she could have gotten this from our yard when she was my first dog?

That's when I realized that it probably came from a neighbor's dog leaving his mark in my yard! A couple years ago we had neighbors Chow, aka Houdini the escape artist, get into our yard and leave droppings ALL the time. I think it's likely my yard was contaminated years ago and there was no way for me to know about it.

So, please don't tell me that asking people to clean up their dog poop is a waste of time.
