Doing a happy dance! Athena came through surgery an hr ago and is in ICU. The doctor feels good, but she needs to get through the next 12 hrs. She will have an EKG monitoring her tonight along w/ an intern staying w/ her. Her case was severe w/ a very small hole leading from the heart, but the cardiologist was able to order a balloon small enough to fit and that was inserted to increase the size.

Her mmHg (millimeters of mercury) which is measuring the pressure of blood on the vessels when the heart beats, went from 180 before surgery, to 140 during surgery, to 40 after surgery. That is good news. She had a couple close calls w/ arrhythmias during surgery, but the anesthesiologist was on top of it controlling the anesthesia which controlled the arrhythmia.

My dh will be getting a call in a couple hrs w/ an update, so let's just keep praying and sending positive throughts for more good news.

Thanks again for everyone's support and concern.
