How much wet food do you feed?
How much wet food do you feed? On the advice of the vet I finally convinced my husband that feeding a whole can of Alpo was crap! It is to much wet food and just low quality food The vet suggested we try just dry for two weeks and see if that helps the runny poops....which sounds fair. I figured perhaps we could buy a can of high quality stuff and just feed a bit in the future....guide me please!

I split one 13 oz can between three dogs (two medium sized, one small), mixed in with kibble. I rotate between Avoderm, Mother Hubbard and Merrick all at around $2.00 per can. I use these because they offer varieties without potatos/sweet potatoes which none of my dogs tolerate.
There are lot of good quality wet foods out there. Check out one of the dog food rating websites for other ideas.
Some also offer smaller (6 oz) cans so you can try different ones to see what suits your dog best.
Good luck

Every 2-3 days I'll mix a 1/2 can of wet food into their kibble as a treat and a little variety. I use Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. It costs about $1/can. I feed Chicken Soup dry kibble as their normal food.

None. Shadow gets a frozen raw venison patty in the morning and has a bowl of dry (currently Taste of The Wild) at all times.

Rarely, I split a can of Merrick between my two on special days; Christmas, Thanksgiving, bdays and mom feels bad cause she hasn't been around much

On the rare occasion I put wet food in - I'll use a high quality brand and only put about a heaping tablespoonful or maybe up to 1/4 C and mix it in with the dry kibble and then a small splash of water so it's more like a bit of gravy...That helps those expensive cans last longer....I agree with cleosmom - holidays are good for a treat like wet food!

My Sophie (Shih Tzu) has alergies so she can eat only lamb and rice, I give her salmon to about 1-2 times a week. She can't eat hard food because it sticks in her throat and that scares me to death. She does love it but I won't take the chance.

We fed our dogs a quality canned food every day. Too many grains in dry.
