In addition to rescue groups, contact local pet sitters. Many of them know people who foster and will put out the word for you. Same thing with your vet. We got our Simon from a rescue and he is the best. His rescue called him Urgent and people came through to see if he would be a good fit for their families. We were the lucky ones.

I don't know what part of the country you are in but there are sanctuaries that will take your pet. Of course, there is a fee to be paid, but your girl will live in comfort, be loved and cared for, for the rest of her natural days. Offhand, I know of one in mid TX and another in the pacific northwest.

My husband and I have no one who could or would take our four pets in the event of us dying together (car accident or other catastrophe). So, it's in our will that xxx sanctuary will become legal guardians of our pets and a portion of our life insurance/estate is to benefit the facility for the care and needs of our furkids. If you'd like more specific info, PM me and I'll send you the info.

It know this is a heartbreaking decision for you and it sounds like you will move heaven and earth to make sure your girl will be alright.

I could never give up any of my dogs for a reason like that or for any reason at all! How can one have a dog for 10 years and give it up. It is beyond me! Sorry, that is just my two pennies! I would do whatever I had to to keep my doggie......

I don't know where you are, but I'm in Southern California and am willing to talk to you about this.
