Look at Macy's the have clearance centers ( they are closing a lot of stores across the board and liquidating) Hard leather is the way to go all the way around if you can afford it. Its pet and kid friendly.
I bought the good stuff from Gardner-Wolf. Italian leather full grain. The good thing is it feels great to me but the dogs don't seem to like it as much. I've had it a month or so and not one scratch can be seen.

We have had everything from leather to microfiber to your standard material. The leather has by far faired the best. And we have not only dogs but a rabbit and three goats that have been on ours.

We had a very expensive leather couch that my dog peed on-We had to throw it out. We've had vinyl, microfiber etc. they all suck. Best just to keep animals off furniture from the beginning.

I got those soft dog beds for each dog, and put them up on the couch or chairs for the dogs. With the little 4 inch sides on them, they're better than the pillows I used before. We can still snuggle with the dogs and the furniture stays clean and fresh smelling.
