My pooper eats Brandon Farms and occasionally carrots, apples, popcorn, romaine lettuce, chicken, and bananas.

Default Switching Dog food

I have switched dog food 12 days ago and my dogs still have soft stool. How long should I wait to see if I should switch back?

I hear ya. I've been a vegetarian my whole life. About a month ago, I decided to try raw after reading several articles about the benefits. The difference in my dogs has been worth all of the near-vomiting and feeling like a hypocrite. My dogs can't buy their own meat, so I decided I just have to suck it up. Last night, I even cut up a whole chicken by myself and touched it with my bare hands. It was disgusting, but my pups were so happy

My dogs have always been healthy, but I really have noticed a change in their coats and their energy levels (and, I have 2 Siberians and a GSD mix, so it's not like they were lacking energy to begin with). My female Sibe is very difficult to keep weight on. She'll never get fat, but she's finally up to a good weight and I've been able to keep her there. My mix pup has a very sensitive stomach and she hasn't had any of her previous poop issues since starting raw. At their last check-up, the vet couldn't believe how white and clean their teeth are.

The cashier at the market laughs because I buy organic, humanely raised meat for my dogs. But, hey, they love it and I feel better about buying it.

I know a vegetarian that has 3 raw fed Great Danes. Now, that is a lot of meat to process! After seeing how great they were doing, she has no reservations handling the meat. Good for you for not giving up!

And we do the same thing, but only grass-fed, natural meat for him. We have a farmers market here every single day, in a different part of the city each time, and there is a guy that sells all-natural, grass-fed meats so we order things for the dog through him. I can't imagine giving him organs from the supermarket, since the liver processes medication and those supermarket cuts are heavily drugged and filled with corn!

What food did you switch from and what are they on now? Did you do it cold turkey or in steps?

Currently "Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul" (It's a good economical holistic kibble) which I have traded back and forth with "Merricks Grammys Pot Pie".

Just curious, what were you feeding before switching to raw?
