Commercial kibble--was Natural Balance but switching to Evo when we run out. My dog eats better than I do!

Mostly raw, but sometimes supplement with Orijen when he's away or when we're too lazy or forget to defrost.

I asked my vet and she said.....it depended on my philosophy.....I asked her what she fed her dog and she said....Purina...because her dog looks the best on that.....my recent rescue dog came on Science Diet.....I dont want to change anything else in her life.....she has been thru a lot....but I have heard Science Diet isnt the best....(corn)......right now I am sticking with the Science Diet and the other dog has switched reluctantly to it.....both are having a high end organic canned food added to entice them to like it.

I am so confused about what is the best for them. I take comfort in the vet...saying .....she didn't think it was a crucial decision.

I have had similar experience when discussing diet with the vet. They tell me that every time they go to their conferences, there is new and conflicting information about what is the best way to feed. They told me basically the same thing they told you, go with what works. It is a very complicated maze to find your way through, there is alot of science involved. Add to that health concerns, and it can be quite daunting. So you are not alone.

Generally, he gets commercial kibble with commercial canned (and hot water) mixed in. That's probably 90% of the time.

He also gets fresh fruit (apples, berries), fresh vegetables (carrots, bell peppers, green beans, celery), apple sauce, plain yogurt, cooked plain chicken, flax seed oil, and plain oatmeal.

Free choice dry (Pedigree)
One can of Pedigree at night. Most of the time they don't eat it.
What ever we have, they have. We buy them their own steak, pork chops etc. No bones.
Tonight they had spaghetti from the Italian restaurant.

I feed my 5 month GSD girl Fromm kibble as a base. I complement it with white rice (same I cook for me), fresh poached chicken (breast, heart, gizzards), beef or turkey. I also cook sweet potatoes, potatoes and carrots and mix it with her kibble. Sometimes I scramble eggs for her too. She is doing well, her coat looks good and she is not fat, a miracle considering she eats lots.
