I keep a lot of nuts in the house (the edible variety, that is ). Sometimes I give a couple to the pooches, as they're loaded with Mega 3s and relatively healthy. Now I knew about the Maccademia nut already. Are there others I should avoid? i usually give the fur babies Filberts or almonds. Any feedback would be appreciated.
I had 1 Rotty could smell out any pecan anywhere. She LOVED pecans. When I baked...she had to have some pecans.
If she was out by the pecan trees, she would bite those hard shell nuts. I figured it would be better to give her the good pecans, rather than the pecan & shell I figured she ate.
She lived a long happy life.
Hmmmm... Thanks, Silly & shelby. But don't you ever give your dogs peanut butter - not on a regular basis, but as a treat?
Peanuts (regardless of their name) are not actually nuts but a member of the Legume family. As with any treat - no problem as long as its given in moderation.

Peanuts are not nuts, they are legumes, so they are fine for dogs. Some places say that almonds are toxic to dogs, and others say no. I'm not taking that chance.
Agreed^...Dylan has his own jar of peanut butter as well. It mostly used to dip his new nylabones in it...get 'em started good!
