After two VERY long weeks, I got to pick up my furry boy first thing this morning. I figured that he'd be stinky, so I had arranged for them to give him a bath (and clip his nails) first thing in the morning -- they do grooming at this kennel as well -- while I loaded his stuff in the car and paid the bill.

What can I say? The reunion was blissful. There are no words. I may have cried. Just a bit.

I'm hoping that he hasn't learned that it's OK to pee and poop in his indoor space (MY HOUSE!!!! ) from having done so, presumably, at the kennel. Fingers crossed on that because, contrary to MAK802's "patience," my tolerance threshold is nil.

Speaking of thresholds for tolerance, Artie's been given (by Rottnboys… thank you for the permission) a one-day reprieve before training commences. Today's only battle will be to see if the Sense-ation harness fits him (I think I ordered a size too small) but, aside from that little wrestling match, I will spend all my free time, when I'm not working, snuggling with the furry beast.

And tomorrow? I am Alpha Dawg (that's me, a merging of Dawn and Dog… hee hee hee).

Yo, Yo, Yo...Alpha Dawg in the house!

I'm sorry....the "Big Bad Dawg" image just not fitting!
So glad, Artie made it home. Lots of time and lovin' today will bring him back to his lovable, worthy self.
Dylan seems to know instinctively, yes, ok to pee when he is boarded in his run...but he has never ever done anything in the house. Hopefully, Artie will realize that too!

So happy for you both! Artie's gonna be a happy dog for a day, master of his world. Then, back to being just another dog. Poor boy. But maybe his time away allowed him to see that the employees were the boss, not him? It might help! Good luck.

ShelbyGirl1: LOL! I don't seem tough, huh? (You're right, but I can swear like a sailor. ) I hope you're right about Artie's bathroom habits. The owner of the place said that he didn't pee or poop in "his room" -- held it as long as he needed to -- so I think we'll be OK. He's so happy to be home. He's running into every room, making sure everything is just as he left it. And then, if I move, he follows me everywhere -- just like normal.

SouthernBelleInUtah: Thanks! I hope you're right. Interesting thing... the owner of the place said that Artie was quite well-behaved (just no quick movements, he said ) and that Artie is welcome back any time for boarding. I was shocked!

maciesmom: If you insist!

latetotheparty: Thank you! But oh no! Not your knee again! I hope you heal up real quick! Oh, by the way, I was right... I ordered the wrong size Sense-ation harness. It's too small. I'm going to phone them at noon (my time) when they will be open to arrange an exchange. I had a hunch, didn't I? I should have listened to my gut. Well, fact is, I couldn't measure Artie so I measured his current harness. Still should have went with my gut. Oh well. What's another week or so...?
