Default CET chews - OK? Do they really work?

So the vet really pushes these Virbac CET chews for dogs and cats. Supposedly they clean their teeth as they chew; does anyone give their dog/cat these? And do they really work? I'm very hesitant about taking dietary advise from the vet and even though the ingredients look OK, the chews are expensive. I don't want to get them unless they really work

We tried them with a free sample. Maybe for a slow dainty chewer. Not for my dogs.

my vet recommended heavy beef bones.... which of COURSE he just HAPPENED to have for sale in his lobby for about $9-10 each....

i go to the grocery store and get those big ol' beef soup bones.... most of the time there is JUST enough meat left on them to make them interesting...... bailey and dave LOVE them ...... and they're only about $1 to $1.50 per pound.......

Hmm I've tried giving Charlie the beef bones and they upset his stomach He loves rawhide and I've heard rawhide can cause blockages, but he's always been fine with it (he eats pretty slowly) so I may just keep doing that. I trust the vet (except with food recommendations) and it's not that I think they're trying to scam me. I've just always been curious if the cets are really wayyy better than other bones.

my dogs love the CET chews, and I like them because they dissolve after they eat them so you don't have to worry about any blockage...which can be dangerous and very costly. You can get them online thru Amazon for about 1/2 of what the vet charges you. I think I paid $12 for a bag.
