Some people do use cooked meat, but then why spend so much money on a dehydrated raw diet? It's not good to mix cooked/raw food, because raw is digested a lot quicker than cooked. When you put cooked food in there, the raw from the Honest Kitchen ends up mixing with it and sitting in the gut for more hours than it should. That's how contamination issues with raw happen.

I see, well that makes sense. This is all new to me, and I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to do it right away due to finances. When I get the sample packets though, should I just mix those with their kibble they eat now? Thanks in advance for all of the advice!

Yea, you can put it right on top of the kibble. From my experience, Embark seems to be a huge hit. It actually smells decent, too. I hope they like it!

Mine LOVE the Keen formula...it has rolled oats in it, so it's not completely grain-free. They get this every morning, and whine the whole 5 minutes it takes to set, LOL! It's not their total diet, just their morning meal...at night, they get Wellness Core kibble mixed with hot water and some type of cooked meat. It works out well for them, because once they have their Keen in the morning, it "pushes out" their previous night's evening meal since it goes through their systems so quickly. I love Honest Kitchen stuff...I also buy their treats and a dietary supplement called "Perfect Form"...it's good for dogs AND cats (I have both) and is a very effective all-natural way to stop diarrhea...in fact, the vet wanted to give my newest kitten metronidazole when I rescued him because he had terrible diarrhea, but I said no way due to his weakened immune system, and Perfect Form cleared it up within a day...I mix a little of it in with their Keen & Prowl (the cat version) every morning as preventative maintenance, and they are all very regular...LOL!

Well that kind of scares me lol They go out in the morning when I get up and have their morning poops, then eat and then go out once more before I go to work. After that they are crated until my boyfriend gets home in the afternoon....hopefully it would be all out of them by the time I have to leave for work lol
