I'm not picking on you here Acrylic, but I think you were responding to someone that was posting more about West Duluth being ok. Just using your post as an example of the fact that some readers may judge the whole of West Duluth based on what they read about the West End ie: east of the ore docks.

I just think it's unfair to say "Stay out of West Duluth" when what many posters are probably picturing in their head is the Lincoln Park area.

As Newcastle said, the revamped Spirit Valley area looks a heck of a lot better than most retail areas in the eastern parts of town and there are some perfectly lovely neighborhoods and houses out that way as well.

Greeting,

My wife and I are moving to Duluth, next June and are in the process of either purchasing a house, or renting? I will be working at UMD, and would like something close to the school, but not exactly right next door. Can someone give me any advise?

Try renting first either in the Chester Park, Kenwood, or Hunters Park neighborhjoods. The Mt. Royal Neighborhood is really nice too. Lots of little quiet streets with nice homes right behind the Mt. Royal shopping center. These neighborhhods are all close to UMD.

Yes, Duluth is one of the best places to live. Hands down. If I can help it there wont be another. Lots of places to visit, but its so not Duluth, and its always so good to come back home to where it all is.
Thanks

Duluth is a great city.

The Roads and the Weather are absolutly horrible, just embarassing.
