Heh heh don't you mean "Detroit's best"? The inner core of Detroit looks like the ruins of a fallen empire, with mother nature taking it back slowly.
Oh, wait, it is.
Detroit is a prime example of what happens when a city is dependent on a single industry while a super powerful union strangles that entire industry to death.
And it didn't just start in the last few years. I remember seeing a comedy movie from the '70's where a guy gets "taken to Detroit", kicking and screaming "No no! Anything but that!"
Don't get me wrong. I'm not against unions in general, as there are many great unions in the country. But they're generally the ones nobody has heard of. UAW and a few others makes them all look bad.

Today I ran the Fitger's 5k and we ran through downtown Duluth. I haven't spent much time downtown because of work, but I was impressed with the Wieland (building, condos?) that are next to the Electric Fetus (the newly constructed building). I went onto the A&L Properties website which said nothing about the condominiums, and hopefully they won't be the same disaster as the vonjaro.com on Lake & Superior (who is going to buy a 3 bedroom condo in the center of downtown - every city I've been to generally will have a studio or one bedroom condo like that because the market tends to be single people of any age, or couples without kids. $649,000 for that condo on Lake and Superior? You can get a better deal at 6 Quebec, the fabulous condo restoration that is in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, which gives you your own patio to overlook downtown, and also provides skyway access to all of downtown. I know Duluth is a pretty city, but I can only stand looking at the same people so many times, the nonexistent dating pool here (you can bet on being single for the rest of your life if you come here) and though I love the lake and the unique features downtown, it's gonna take a lot more than that to keep me here.
Of course now, I don't have any money to leave! So it looks like I'm here to stay whether I like it or not -).

It's too bad that the retail and office portion of the Wieland development can't fill up and the Tech Village is half empty. If only the dirtbags would stop hanging around that area, there would be a chance of it prospering. As far as dating is concerned, dont feel bad, I've lived in Duluth and the cities and unless you're college educated, rich and have a body like Fabio; women have little respect for us- it is part of the liberal/feminist snobbery that is Minnesota!

Absolutely false. I may only be twenty, but in this topic, it doesn't matter. From what I've heard, I'm almost positive it's easier to find women here than in say, California.

I agree. At least Minnesotan's are humble and respectable.
Trust me, in Phoenix or SoCal, if you dont have a shiny car that reads: MERCEDES...BMW...or CADILLAC, not 6ft and built, you arent much. Trust me. WOmen are sooo pretenious its not even funny.

Back to the retail stuff, does anyone know of any commitments from tenants for the Wieland development-office or retail? I think Justin Paul is the only tenant in the whole complex so far! Anything going in the Tech Village retail and does anyone know what is up with that proposed office tower downtown?, I haven't heard anything about it since Fall '07.
