Yeah I just noticed that Great American Restaurant was no more. I now live NW Wisconsin, but in late September 2007 I was living in the Western U.S. and our family gathered in Duluth to see my uncle in the hospital. We went to eat... we were going to eat at Ol Country Buffet but noticed the Great American place and decided to eat there. Good memory. Nice interior. Kind of too bad. But it happens all the time...

More will be closing as the tourist numbers are going down and the local population in insufficient in the winter time to be able to support so many.

It's a feast/ fathom
They loose money all winter and make it in the summer.

Eric Ringsred and his ilk ought to pack up and move to Europe, They're another entity that's slowing progress in Duluth! I heard from a friend that Erbert & Gerberts is going in the Grand Avenue retail next to Napa. Why do existing businesses always have to go in new developments? That development and the vacancies at Denfeld Center are perfect for places new to the Duluth market. It really sucks up there. Friends and relatives are the only thing that brings me back!

Just saw on the DNT website that Volkswagon is going to open in the old Saturn of Duluth building. I think this is awesome as Duluth lacks any kind of foreign dealership or higher end ones for that matter. They're scheduled to open in March.

Just read about a mystery big box retailer opening in proctor that required 68 acres. It's where that closed Spirit Motel is now. Proctor annexed the land from Midway Township. Rumor is Cabella's but the spokesperson for Cabella's denied that rumor. Any other ideas out there? It's in the tribune.

Fleet Farm would be an awesome addition up there! Definitely won't turn anything down, but that' s a great idea. Guess it could be just about anything.

Lowes? SuperTarget? Macy's? Nordstrom? I think the regional shopping center should be located along 35 between Proctor & Midway Township because it's so easy to get to from the freeway and no one in the Miller Hill area wants to do anything with their dated properties or build anything exciting. I don't know if the Duluth area can support two major shopping areas or not. This development will be interesting

I just read that Sears/K-Mart is closing up to 120 stores. Hopefully the mall K-Mart will be part of that. That building brings down the entire area, and needs to be redeveloped with quality buildings and businesses!
