I think it's strange that K Mart is still open in that building, I never see cars in that lot, and I am only in Duluth on weekends. The owners/developers of that building would have to do a good remodel, because it is so boring, stuck in the '70s.

I really think K-Mart should have closed years ago. It does horrible and is always having 50% of sales trying to get people in there. I agree that a major renovation would have to be done to lease the space. I think they easy fix is to have K-Mart close and knock down the building a either build a new large big box store or sub divide the site for larger retailers and a strip center and maybe some restaurants.

I've talked to the location scout for target and he said that they would like to put in a supertarget but the current spot couldnt work beacuse not enough parking. Tear down K-Mart building and put Super Target there. I think that parking lot is bigger.

Wow I was going to say that exact thing in my lost post. I think the site might be a little small though for Super Target. But you never know it might just fit. I think a Super Target where K-Mart is would do a lot for the image of that area. Did you mention that plan to the scout?

That building is junk. A few years ago the tar paper on the flat roof blew up and inflated like a baloon before blowing off the building. It is an eyesore and should be demolished. That site would also suit mixed use development along with a new restaurant as an anchor. (e.g. Red Robin, Buffalo Wild Wings, Nooldes or something els).
