Saw this in today's DNT. Anyone know what national retailer might be coming to the Ground Round site?

"Approving and recommending the plan review of the former Ground Round site near the Miller Hill Mall. The restaurant closed in late 2010. It will be torn down and a new national retail complex will take its place."

I am thinking because of the plans for the development that it is going to be a collection of national retailers. This development really has the potential to be something great! Looks like Verizon Wireless is going to move into the development, Starbucks will move to feature a drive through, The Vitamin Shoppe will open it's first Duluth location, along with the Mattress Firm (a MN company). That's great to see that they have it fully leased if everything works out!

Has K-Mart closed yet? Any news on that site-new store/redevelopment? I haven't seen much on City Data lately. I love the new Wordpress site, but I love the forums here as well. Is that proposed development at Ground Round and the Hampton Inn a sure thing yet? Are the Greendale, Arrowhead Crossing and Sam's Club developments dead or still up in the air?

Ahhh really? I was hoping for a Panera or something. The last thing that area needs is another auto shop. At least it will be a new face to the area.

I'm just glad that AutoZone is finally entering our market. We've never had one before (at least in my memory). The closest is Cloquet I believe.

I am glad also. They have been advertising in our area for years and I was really shocked when I saw that Cloquet had one. They have remained quite large in the South for the past ten years. Glad to see their expansion!

Looks like Hobby Lobby will be the first tenant to fill part of the former Kmart space. They will be taking 59,000 square feet and will open in January. The other 29,000 square feet will be filled by another retail that has yet to be finalized but is said to compliment Hobby Lobby and Saver's. I think it could be Big Lots or a Goodwill location. What do you guys think?
