Holy Cow - I never knew there were others like me - I thought I was the only one who loved hearing about stuff like this. This is such an amazing source for insight into new things coming to the Duluth area!! I have read every post in all the pages of this thread, as well as the Miller Hill Mall thread, and they are great.
Well, I don't have much in the way of specifics, but here is a few interesting tidbits. Hope this isn't stuff that everyone has heard about
1) About 9 months ago, the manager at Olive Garden came to our table. Of course I had to ask him all about how the store was doing. I also asked him if they would ever consider bringing a Bahama Breeze (our favorite restaurant) up here, since they are the same family. He said they weren't really concentrating on that brand right now. BUT - he told me that the Duluth store's opening was one of the best ever in the company, and that they told him to keep an eye out for a possible second location (Renaissance, perhaps?). He mentioned that they were thinking downtown or canal park (since they already have a Darden Red Lobster down there that does well). He said they were blown away at how successful this location has been!
2) I was at the gym this winter, and I overheard a couple guys talking. One of them said that his friend had just secured the franchise rights for Buffalo Wild Wings for Duluth. The other guy at the gym asked him where it was going, and he said it was going somewhere near the mall, but he hadn't found the right location yet. I see that there have been other mentions about BWW, but thought this might be interesting nonetheless
Regarding the "Superior Crossing" in Cloquet - WOW! I wonder what kind of stores/restaurants will be going in there. I had no idea this was coming. I saw a great article here:
Pine Journal - gee wonder what outdoor/sporting goods place they're talking about (maybe the Cabela's finally?). I wish it were coming to Duluth, but oh well.
That is so great about the Texas Roadhouse - we've eaten there and loved it.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi - and to thank everyone for the great insight. See you around
