I assume the remodel will coincide with the completion of road work. I remember reading the whole thing about MNDot versus Target. Part of the issue was that Target's landscaping plans were essentially too fancy and costly. Dennyd, do you know if the remodel is pure cosmetic or if the the store itself will be expanding at all?

I was noticing myself that that remodel part was going to be happening when road construction would be happening on their lot. I wonder if it will be a total remodel and the exterior will be remodeled to the current prototype. I also wonder where the Starbucks is going. The new Targets, and I am not talking about Super Targets, but the new Targets have both a Pizza Hut Express and a Starbucks. Maybe they will move the current customer service center and put the Starbucks there. I also am wondering if they will be expanding their store on both sides. If they are going to remodel to the current prototype they will be needing to move a lot of things around. The electronics area would become a larger grocery store section and then the electronics section would be moved to the middle of the back. I just went to a brand new Target in Kansas City and this is how it all was. Oh how I hope they are doing this. The Target in Kansas had a huge food section, it was probably a two thirds of the size of Super Targets, and that Target was not that much larger than ours. Can anyone confirm what I am wondering?

By the way Aluminumpork, I just emailed Roberta, the project manager for the Miller Trunk Corridor road construction and she said that Target actually won. She said that they will be getting new landscaping and a new sign. She also said that the city is requiring a lot of the stores in the area to do new landscaping when this project is over.

Interesting thing I just found on Target. I went and looked at the plans for the Miller Hill Mall portion of the road construction project and I zoomed on Target and found some interesting notes. On the left hand side of the store along with the front there are notes saying "area under construction" yet when I go and look at other buildings on the plan there is no other notes like this. Does this mean that they will be working on the building like aluminumpork said during the road project? But also it must mean they are expanding forward and on the left hand of the site. Look at this site plan and tell me what you think.

One of our Super Targets has both of those. So they must be doing that with both regular and Super Targets then. Cool. The deli foods at Target are really good too so if they did do an interior remodel and there was some food there, that'd be an excellent addition.

I keep hoping to hear something exciting is going in at the old Michael's or that they are closing that K-Mart and putting some big cool place there. Not sure what - just something more exciting than K-Mart.

Hey I found this article on the P2009 prototype for Target. Its sounds interesting and seems like thats what they could be doing to ours. Target's future stores will be bigger, greener - Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal:

Yeah I havent heard anything. The only two things I have heard are that the Target employees want Target to build a Super Target on that site and then move. I also heard a long time ago that Kmart was closing and that Sears was going to move out of the mall and build a new Sears, or maybe even a Sears Grand, at the current Michaels and Kmart site.

Yes this is exactly what is in the plan for the Duluth Target. It will move the pharmacy more toward the front of the store, and away from the high congestion areas. Also expand the Market Pantry/Archer Farms (no fresh produce or deli, yet) and the electronics area. The construction is set to start when the work on Mall Drive begins.

So we are getting the new prototype?! Who did you hear this from? Does this mean they will do the exterior also? And does this also mean that they will be adding on 6,000 square feet.
