I know this isn't quite as exciting as a better Target or new restaurant, but Hermantown got approval for T-Mobile coverage, and eventually a store. The Hermantown City Council approved the cell tower and the minutes said something about a T-Mobile store location still pending.
Also, if it's true about Little Caesar's going in the development across from Burning Tree Plaza, I think it'd be really ironic next to that Jenny Craig

That's great news about T-Mobile in Hermantown! It's about time they start providing official coverage up here. Hopefully they'll get towers going in Duluth soon.

I have heard that the blue note cafe has gone out of business and possibly been bought out by Caribou Coffee

Interesting. I knew the Blue Note Cafe was having trouble and that they were thinking of closing, but Caribou buying them? Strange. They've already got a Caribou down there, unless they're thinking of running something independent there.

Wow a T-Mobile store would be awesome to have up here! I know a lot of people that already have T-Mobile... So I think they would be pretty happy with a store.
I really dont know why Caribou Coffee would buy Blue Note Cafe... did they buy the business or just the space?

So we have come to the conclusion that Walmart is not persuing a Supercenter in Duluth or Hermantown aymore?
Also I know that DennyD has told us that there will only be a few changes in Target, none very major. But I was reading some things about Target doing upgrades to stores and to all of the stores they have been doing the updates you mentioned to they also have been doing full remodels. It seems as if Target does it all at once and doesnt spare anything. Do you think this still could be the case in Duluth? What Target has been doing to most Target stores they remodel is remodeling the exterior and moving the Pharmacy, Electronics counter and also adding a Starbucks. They then also replace all of the checkouts, flooring, ceiling tiles and also remodel the bathrooms. Could this happen in Duluth and all the details may have not just been told yet? Or is this extensive of a remodel for sure not happening?

It seems like the only Super stores we will have around here is super one and super america. Whenever I go to superior and go in that gigantic walmart they have I get so envious and mad that we don't have one when our population is more than triple.....and don't even get me started on the one in cloquet....

I agree, however I think Superior and Cloquet may be a bit more development friendly than Duluth is and I thought Hermantown would be development friendly, too but apparentlly not. I could care less about more discount stores, I would like to see a second upscale department store and more restaurants on the Hill.

I agree with both of you. I get so angry when I go to the Walmart Supercenter in Superior, even though that is only a few times a year, but I just dont get why they get it and we dont. But I myself like nateduluthnative would like to see more restaurants and shops along with an upscale department store like a Macys or Nordstroms on top of the hill before we get a Walmart Supercenter. Now if it was a Super Target that would be a different story

Just saw that online in the Duluth News Tribune that Members Cooperative will be opening a Duluth Heights branch in January. Big surprise? It shouldnt be being the newspaper announced that Members Cooperative Credit Union would be opening a branch in the Duluth Heights area back last year. What is the big surprise? The big surprise is that instead of building a 16,000 square foot gorgeous branch office next to Hom Furniture on a piece of land MCCU had bought, they instead will be opening in the Firestone building in front of Miller Hill Mall. What happened to the big nice branch they were suppose to build? 16,000 square feet down to 1,500? I dont understand. Anyone have any idea what happened?
Is this a second branch that they will be opening?
