Well, it's not 92.1 that's new, but rather they made the move to "light" FM station, which granted, does play a lot of 80s music. They do play some mid to late 90s sometimes though. I can imagine 107.7 will be very popular now. I was under the assumption that 'The BEAT' was doing quite well, and the switch seemed like it was out of nowhere.

I think an REI would be huge up here. If I had the capital I would open one.

I don't have specific ones. I was just talking with my friend and mentioned that I would love to have a Bed Bath & Beyond and that was their comment. That they did have people up here looking and that was one of the things they looked at and so did other big names, but they did not mention names and I didn't ask because I was so bumbed about them not coming up here.

I too do want Bed Bath and Beyond up here. I talked to a developer who is developing the site where Grill and Chill is and he said he has talked to Bed Bath and Beyond numerous times but they still were not interested in Duluth. I dont understand why they wouldnt be when so many retailers are. I also would like to see Super Target up here instead of our Target. But they still say there are no plans for anything to happen. Our Target does great, why not expand? I can see how you get frustrated CrystalIce.

I dont know really if that would do well being we already had a Toys R Us and that is a brand off of Toys R Us and that store left Duluth last year. I dont think it would do well here, but who knows.

I agree - Toy stores have never done very well up here. Actually I believe that Toy's R Us filed bankruptcy and closed a lot of locations, so it is not just in our area. They just can't compete with discounters. I'm not sure what the exact formula that Bed Bath & Beyond uses to decide, but I do know that they like to have a location that is about 40,000 sq ft. I personally don't think that Duluth has the per capita income that they are looking for.

I also agree with you, but would add that this area draws shoppers from three states and one Canadian province which may increase the per capita income and factor into the decision to open a new store. Also, the median familyincome in the Duluth area continues to increase. According to CNNMoney the median family income is a little over $50,000. I think that figure may be a bit high.
