So the news today looks like the Saturn of Duluth is going to stay so thats good! I am a bit shocked that we're loosing Cadillac though. Can't Duluth have at least ONE nice car company here?

Great!!!! I am glad Duluth will not be losing another car dealership. You would think we would have an Audi dealership here... there seems to be a large amount of people that have them.
Construction is going at full force at Target! The interior is really starting to be reorganized. If you havent been to Target in the last month, dont plan to find many things in the same place. A majority of the items have been moved to new locations. I saw today that Target is working now on the Grocery section of the store. The parking lot also is a drastic construction project! Glad to see that the main entrance is back open. I thought it was funny that Target needs a "Open During Construction" sign on its store. I guess its needed being half of the parking lot doesnt have cars in it!

Heh, me being one of them. A big beautiful Audi dealership would be great here, but a bit unrealistic, especially right now. I think the only way an Audi dealership here could survive is if it were an Audi/VW combination dealer (same company, why not?). Foreign Affairs and SVS sure would take a big hit if official Audi/VW were available locally, then again, it would be stealership service.
There are a lot of Audi/VWs running around, many seem to be college student owned.

The T.J. Maxx store in Duluth is being remodeled at the moment. The remodel started a few weeks ago and looks to be a pretty major one. So far some new shelving has been added, work on the fitting rooms has begun, the walls have all been stripped of their decorative woods and signage. A new, more modern and colorful T.J. Maxx is coming, atleast thats what the sales associate said.

I would love to see Harbor Fright move somewhere else and T.J.Maxx turn that space in to a Home Goods and would also like to see Marshall's( the Maxx's sister store)locate in Duluth. I think Marshall's is a step up from Maxx. I also saw the backhoe is still on the Culver's site, will they ask Planning for approval once again? I also saw bulldozers and dirt on the Hermantown Center site and a lot of red flags on the Greendale site, does that mean that the're both for sure? By the way, it's about time Duluth got a retail development with "DALE" !!!

Harbor Freight seems to be doing well! I too would love to have a HomeGoods location here! The remodel at T.J. Maxx adds more furniture and expands their Culinary section by a large amount. I hope it organizes the store better too! And some how makes it less congested.
Marshalls would do great in Duluth! I could see them locating in Greendale or in the Duluth Hill site where there is a big box space available. Its the perfect size for Marshalls.
Culvers is working on starting. They have everything passed, but now are running into some soil issues. They have invested far too much money in the site and refuse to back out! So the project still is estimated to start this summer.
Hermantown Center.... is this the one down the road from Sam's Club? Hmm... If it was I am wondering if it is just where MNDOT is storing its equipment when they are done working for the day... But they have their own site to store their equipment for that part, which is right next to Sam's. I wonder if they are going to actually start! The sign has only been there for more than three years! It would be nice to have more retail on that road, well, actually I guess in that area.
Can you explain where exactly the entire Greendale site is. I know where it is located, but the development is located on two different sides of the road. Where did you see the flags? They were not road construction flags... right? And true! It is time we got a Dale development! Ha.

The Hermantown Center I'm mentioning is the one on the corner of 53 and LaVaque/Ugstad roads. I saw red flags on the site on the corner of Haines and 53, I thought that is where Greendale would be because it wouldn't make much sense if it faced Page or Sundby roads- it would be more visible if it faced 53 and/or Haines. I always thought Burning Tree Plaza should have been built facing 53 instead of Maple Grove!

I just realized that there are two planned centers that have that name in Hermantown. Wow, you think people could get a little more creative. That would make sense though if they did have flags on the site. Re-Cor was suppose to OPEN the first store this summer. Obviously that will not happen. But maybe they will start this summer constructing the buildings. Or who knows. Maybe that actually have a tenant lined up.
Greendale is on two sides of Sundby rouad. That the thing. It is not the huge piece of land behind Kohls, all of that is wetlands. Now I am not sure if the developer somehow was able to aquire some of that land if he was to create new wetlands when constructing the center. But I am pretty sure that Greendale will not be atleast that entire site behind Kohl's. There is a possibilty is could be some of it though. Its really suprising that there hasnt even been a detailed map or site plan for the development yet. Its starting to make me a little nervous. Hopefully we will here something this summer atleast.

There are also two existing mini-malls called Hermantown something. The flags I mentioned were at Haines and 53, so it may be road construction. The Re-Cor site has dirt piles and bulldozers, but those pole buildings are still standing and for sale signs are still there. At one time former mayor John Fedo was going to develop that site into a mixed-use development, but that was 5-10 years ago.

Not sure how many live in the Lakeside/Lester Park area, but I just found out that the Super One here is expanding and renovating. It's an older store, but always plenty busy, so that is great news. They have a great staff there, and it could really use a revamp. They are expanding the parking lot right now, and once that is done, they will expand out into the parking lot and toward the street. Should be great! Good to see them investing in the area!
