I was there yesterday. They are repaving huge sections of the parking lot which was greatly needed. That made me pretty happy. Otherwise there isnt anything new with the mall. Except that there is a ton of advertising everywhere. Way to much advertising actually. There is a banner in each skylight and also on all of the boxouts in mall. No news on stores yet from me.

Miller Hill Mall now has a Rejuvination Station for its shoppers. The space is located next in the hallway between Helzbergs and Roger and Hollands.
The Hallmark move and remodel is set to begin soon.
Any news on the mall?

Hallmark has boxed out the old Lady Foot Locker space in order to begin constructing their new store. They will open in late December/ Early January. When they move from their current location Build A Bear workshop will begin construction in Hallmarks old space.

I can't believe the traffic at the mall. I hear that their is a recession on, but you wouldn't know by the amount of traffic at the mall. I couldn't even find a parking spot. I hate shopping there because it is always too crowded and there are not enough stores. I wish they would build up and add a second story.

There is a lot of traffic at the mall, I do agree. I myself feel like the hallways are too narrow and too filled with stands and people. Plus the interesting thing is that with these remodels happening with these stores the mall is actually decreasing the amount of stores it has. Take Victorias Secret's remodel for instance, what was once two stores is now one. I am not complaining what so ever. I would like to see the redevelopment section get filled being there are three spaces sitting there empty. The mall cant build up and do a second story on the current mall. But if they did do an expansion in the back or on the DSW side of the mall I definantly could see them building a two or even three level addition due to the lack of land. The point is Miller Hill Mall really needs an addition in order to keep attracting stores and customers.

Build A bear wont be opening a location at Miller Hill Mall until the end of 2009 due to the economy. So it looks like we are going to have another temp space sitting where Hallmark currently is from January to December.

I was down in the Cities recently and stopped at Ridgedale Mall and it too looks super outdated on the exterior. But they do have three stories and the space is wide enough for people to walk through and not get frustrated by the crowds. The selction of stores is better too. (I'm sure it is because of the income ratio in the cities)
I would hope the mall in Duluth would expand and build up. I doubt it is likely to happen in the current economy.

Ridgedale is a great mall. It just was remodeled too this last summer. The tenants that mall has are absolutely phenomenal. But there mall has also always been two levels and it already almost 1,200,000 square feet compared to Miller Hill Mall at 780,000 square feet. I really dont think Miller Hill Mall will ever expand. I doubt Simon would put that much money into Duluth.... even though should because an expansion is greatly needed.

Whitehall has officially now closed and Hallmark will be opening up in a few weeks in their new location!
Any news on what might take Whitehall's space?

Just looked and found out that bids are now being taken for a remodel on a retail clothing store in Duluth. The store will total 4,500 square feet.... thats pretty big! So this is taking place at Miller Hill Mall and to me it seems as if this is for Buckle. They are taking bids till Jan 9th and plan to begin construction in February. But the real question is... where is there are vacant store in Miller Hill Mall that totals 4,500 square feet? Thats a pretty big space... and they last time I checked Buckle wasn't planning on taking over any store currently at the mall. Does this mean that the mall finally has a tenant for the huge space inside the mall in the redevelopment? That space defiantly is 4,500 square feet. Could Buckle be the next tenant for the redevelopment!? Who knows. Anyone else know?
