OMG - I would flip if the Five Guys thing came true! A while back - I had been in contact with the guy that owns the franchise rights to Duluth and he was looking for places in Duluth.
My whole family is ADDICTED to Five Guys - and over the holidays - we ate at the one in St. Cloud twice (on the way to the in laws).

Hmm... to me it seems like A & W would in reality be the one still looking at the food court. They do more mall food court locations then Five Guys. But there is always a chance for it to be Five Guys still looking. I would rather see Five Guys out of the mall in a freestanding building somewhere.

Is Five Guys new? I've never heard of them, there isn't any in the Cities yet. The only recent burger chain that I know of is Sonic and there is only one in St. Paul. I have only seen two food court A&Ws, one in the megamall and the other in Rochester's mall. Also, that Chicken Now website still lists "Miller Hill Mall, Duluth, Mn. fall 2008". It is January 2, 2009 as I type this

I love Sonic. Theres actually three right now in the cities, one in St. Paul, Savage and Elk River. They plan to have 35 Twin Cities locations with in five to eight years. They also plan to add a location in Duluth and Rochester in the next ten years. I think Chicken Now just isnt updating their website... which is not very good for a company of that size.

Hey - good news about Five Guys. Sounds like they will be going into the spot in the new development next to Coldwater. Heard this directly from the retailer. Looks like a great spot for them!
I think I'm going to gain a LOT of weight

Where are you hearing this? It still shocks me if this is true. I find it very hard to believe that Gap would be leaving Duluth. Are you sure they are not moving in the mall somewhere different?

Sorry for doubting you Pedro161. Gap is closing along with Gap Kids and the mall did double their rent, only their rent, and will not negotiate with them. Gap is furious with the mall and will be closing due to that. Gymboree is also in the same situation, although their rent has not be doubled, the mall is not negotiating very well with them on their space. The mall doubled Gaps rent because they would like that space to be two separate spaces, hint one will be going to Buckle. The other space is still open. Gymboree is thinking about taking the other space. Apparently Simon mall does not know how to keep its retailers. The mall is nothing special. Apparently Gap is so furious with the mall that they wont even look at relocating in it. They might move now to a different area in Duluth... I have no idea where neither do they themselves. I myself think Gap should relocate down to JCPennys wing in the redevelopment.

So, the mall is getting two burger places, Five Guys and Culvers? Is both of them a sure thing or just a rumor? Also, for the two food court spaces, bring back Cinnabon and Karmelkorn or a Spudsters and 1 Potato 2.
